Second, it is much less expensive to modify a project or deliverable early in the process rather than later. The cost to remove the wing of a building from an initial artistÆs rendering is much less than the cost to remove that wing from a fully constructed building. Therefore, every effort should be made to ensure through every stage of the project that the contractor understands and is implementing what the owner intends. Where misunderstandings have occurred, they must be remedied as early in the project as possible to minimize extra costs and project delays and rework.

Finally, as the owner provides consistent feedback to the contractor, the contractor develops a deeper understanding of the ownerÆs desires and objectives for the project.
