There were two bridges at Argenteuil. The railway bridge was a structure of poured concrete and its piers have the effect of white columns supporting the straight line of the high walls that surrounded the trains passing over the top. The second bridge was the road bridge that carried pedestrians and carriages over the river. Monet painted both bridges repeatedly throughout the years 1871-1876.
