hio's version, the Ensign believes that Disdemona is actually in love with the Captain, and the Ensign makes use of the Captain in his plot. Disdemona is finally killed by the Moor and the Ensign working together, for the Ensign has fooled the Moor into believing his wife unfaithful and has manipulated the man so that he helps with the murder by bringing the ceiling down on his dead wife.

Iago is such a strong villain that many critics have seen him as the true hero of the play. He is also an able psychologist, always able to see through to the inner character of each person and always able to make use of his knowledge to manipulate others.
