ion is the Oregon Trail, a program that allows students to plan a wagon trip that leaves from St. Joseph, Missouri and ends in Oregon.

The simulation allows students to make decisions about purchasing items to take and, as the students travel the trail, they learn whether they have made good or poor choices. In addition to learning about their purchasing choices for such a trip, they are given a feeling of what it was like to travel during this particular period of time in American history.

(4) Problem-Solving: This form of CAI attempts to teach students problem-solving techniques such as trial and error, extensive listing, and problem simplification strategies. An example of a problem-solving CAI can be seen in a program named Robot Odyssey I published by The Learning Company. This program is similar to an adventure game and calls for students to learn how robots function in a future society in order to escape from them and return to civilization.
