The purpose of this study is to develop a broad and comprehensive investigation of the inclusion of special needs students in regular classrooms in public schools. The objective of this investigation is to collect and summarize information relevant to the issue of inclusion to provide parents, teachers, administrators, and policy makers with a succinct understanding of the issues surrounding the inclusion of special needs students in regular public school classrooms. With this information, they will be better prepared to develop and implement policies and strategies that are beneficial to all students, as opposed to providing theoretical benefits only to special needs students through policies that frequently are based on wishful thinking more so than on solid research.
