Most pertinently for this paper, this article illuminated the fundamental difference between clinical and counseling psychology. While clinical psychology tended to focus on the deficits on the individual, counseling psychology also takes into consideration the social context and its impact on the lives of the individual, especially those from socially oppress groups such as lesbian, gay and bisexual individuals.
