h a focus on the educational environment, Rogers' (1983) student-centered/experiential learning and teaching approach highlighted the following qualities as integral to the effectiveness of learning: a) a safe learning environment that fosters children's instinctive desire to learn; b) participatory decision-making processes that involve both teachers and students; c) focus on enabling students to enhance their abilities through learning that is meaningful them; and d) incorporation of both intellectual and emotional components of learning.
